About Carmen
Carmen Torres is the CEO & Chief Specialist of My HR Specialist Inc., a firm specializing in business and employment consulting and hands-on/on-call services for business owners and non-profits. She serves as a reliable advisor to brokers, business owners, executive leadership, and managers & supervisors providing ongoing counselling and guidance on their company policies and personnel matters. Carmen supports employers in all phases of employment needs when they're confronted by State and Federal administrative agencies, such as the Labor Commissioner, the Civil Rights Department, the Department of Labor, the EDD, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Carmen also conducts workplace investigations, internal audits, and provides training to individuals and groups in the areas of sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, employee classification, and wage and hour compliance. Her company specializes in developing policies and procedures such as handbooks and termination processes ensuring that your business is compliant minimizing the risk of employment liability.
Carmen's experience covers virtually every industry, including non-profits and businesses ranging from small, family-run companies to medium-size organizations in services, restaurants, construction, and health industries to name a few. In January of 2024, Carmen's first book, "The Smart HR Solution" was published and is aimed at supporting Business Owners, Leaders, and anyone responsible for managing people and ensuring compliance in the workplace.
