2009 A Taste of FIBR Awards Dinner! Honoring the Best of FIBR

Honoring The Best of FIBR
This year's honorees included The Southern California Gas Company as our FIBR Community Partner of the Year, Caldwell Fresh Foods for FIBR Food Processor of the Year and New Century Snacksfor FIBR Food Safety Achievement Award.  Each of these companies were chosen among a strong group of nominees which included Cibaria International, Juanita's Foods, Cabo Foods and Dorsey Culinary Arts.

Thanks To Our Host: Los Angeles Trade-Technical College
This sold-out event was hosted by Los Angeles Trade-Technical College's Culinary Arts Department (http://college.lattc.edu/culinaryarts/) Chaired by Chef Stephen Kasmar.  The Culinary Arts Department presented a fantastic menu from appetizers to dessert, featuring FIBR members products.  Sushi, Dumplings, Udon Noodle Salad and Eggrolls were the stars of the Asian Appetizer station and Fajitas & Soy Tacos, Cheese Enchiladas, Nopal  Salad, Guacamole, Salsa & Chips  rounded out the offerings at the Latin Appetizer Station.

What was for dinner?  Garlic Rolls and Cornbread Muffins, Chicken & Shrimp Skewers, Cashew Crusted Salmon, Sesame Seared Ahi & Won Ton Crisp, Halibut Potato Rumaki, Oysters Rockerfeller, Balsamic Reduction Manilla Clams and of course, Coffee & Ice Cream for dessert.  Hungry yet?

In addition to creating and executing a Taste of FIBR menu, the Culinary Arts Department also selects the "Most Innovative Product" award, which is chosen among the products submitted for the dinner's preparation.  This year's award was presented to Mr. Mas Hori  for his donation of "the freshest seafood any of us have ever seen" from H&N Foods.  Congratulations Mas!

Gifts, Raffles, Silent Auctions
The Annual A Taste of FIBR dinner is a Celebration of the Anniversary of FIBR's Incorporation.  Being our 13th year - we try and keep the celebratory spirit by sending everyone home with a little "Taste of FIBR".  Each guest received a gift bag full of lots of FIBR goodies, from brownies to noodles, chips and sour cherry jam, coffee and nuts.  Thanks to all of those who contributed to our Gift Bags:  BatchMaster Software, Cabo Foods, CleanSource, Flanigan Farms, Gavina Coffee, Quon Yick Noodle Company, Merical, Miller's Honey, Mrs. Beasley's Bakery, New Century Snacks, Shemshad Foods, United Agribusiness League and Wing Hing Foods.

This year we held our first ever Silent Auction.  CSI Season Sets, a Foldable Bicycle, Dodgers Box Seats, Ice Cream Sundae Bar, Brunch & Show at the Magic Castle Hollywood, and an I-POD Nano were among the great Silent Auction offerings.  Many Thanks to Our Silent Auction Contributors!  Caldwell Fresh Foods, Dandy Don's Homemade Ice Cream, Moss Adams, LLP, Quon Yick Noodle Com, United Agencies, Engine Co. No.28 Restaurant and Linda Griego!  And thank you to Asian Beverage Company for their Donation of beer for our dinner.
